Exceptional Trial and Appellate Experience.
From 2010 to 2016, I served as the only judge in one of Georgia's busiest courts, the Municipal Court of Athens-Clarke County. During my tenure as judge, I presided over more than 150,000 traffic; DUI; misdemeanor theft by shoplifting, marijuana possession, and underage possession; local ordinance; administrative alcohol license, taxi permit, and business license violation; and nuisance abatement cases.
Between 2004 and 2010, I worked as an Assistant District Attorney for the Western Judicial Circuit, representing the State in felony and misdemeanor cases in Athens-Clarke and Oconee Counties. During this time, I prosecuted more than 2,000 substantive and probation cases, handling all types of charges from speeding to murder. I tried 40 cases before juries, including 24 cases in which I served as lead counsel. I also successfully handled 9 appeals before the Georgia Court of Appeals and Supreme Court of Georgia.
I am a 2004 graduate of the Georgia State University College of Law, participating in Moot Court, the Student Trial Lawyers Association, Honor Court, and the Federalist Society.
I attended the University of Georgia from 1991 to 1996, earning a Triple Bachelor's Degree in English, Anthropology, and Spanish.
I also hold a Master's Degree in Liberal Studies from the University of Oklahoma, where I studied punk rock lyrics.
